Founder of Stash Wealth Priya Malani on the show to talk H.E.N.R.Y’s - High Earners Not Rich Yet.

Priya spent the first part of her career helping very wealthy individuals manage their high net worth in retirement and she came to one conclusion - IT WAS SUPER BORING!

Priya made the pivot and decided she start her own firm called Stash Wealth in order to focus all of her efforts on the people she could help the most - people just like herself.

“We are not your Father’s Financial Advisor”

The millennial generation isn’t interested in cutting back life and living on rice and beans. They are extreme hustlers, they can generate income in a minute, and they want to save, invest, pay off debt, AND have ridiculous amounts of fun.

In the show we talked about:

• Defining who the H.E.N.R.Y.s are
• Profit first
• Best Online Savings Account
• Hating on Budgets (can you believe this?)
• Emergency Funds for the H.E.N.R.Y.
• What are some of the biggest mistakes to avoid as a H.E.N.R.Y.

Fun Fact: Priya and I don’t agree on everything, but that’s okay - it makes for a fun conversation!

Fun Fact 2: We had to use the heck out of the BLEEP Button on this one :)

Kelly Snyder is the founder of the website and brand, Adore Your Wardrobe.

Kelly’s mission is to give women the tools to overcome the problem of having a closet full of clothes, but nothing you want to wear. She isn’t about the latest and greatest trends, but rather focuses on finding clothes that make women feel confident, regardless of age.

Now of course Kelly didn’t come on the show to share her fashion trends with a 34-your man who wears gym clothes everyday!

I asked Kelly to come on the show to share how she started her business from an idea about fashion, to become a high-level earner inside this online business in the first two years.

On the show we discuss:

• What she recommends everyone does first before they actually start
• Why even the people who test her products still have to pay to play
• How she creates challenges to generate buzz about her idea
• Why her services are only offered a few times per year
• How she has built a team to drive the overall mission vs just working for dollars
• A special GIFT for the Money Peach listeners - HINT: Think big discount

Chad Carson, AKA Coach Carson, on the show this week to talk about something I have been obsessed with lately - Real Estate Investing (for beginners).

Coach Carson has been investing in real estate for the past 15 years and he has seen both the good times and the bad. I asked him to share some of his best real estate investing techniques and how he got started with his first property.

On the show we discuss:

  • Driving for dollars (real estate terms)
  • Getting that first rental (the hardest one)
  • What Coach looks for when he visits a potential property
  • His buy box - when is it a buy vs a do-no-buy
  • Planning for the long term with capital expenses
  • The result - what life looks like when you do it right

Jennifer Barrett is the Chief Education Officer for Acorns and the Editor in Chief for Grow.

Jennifer is incredibly smart, knows how to move up the ranks in business, and is a high-income earner. In fact, for the past 8 years she has been the primary breadwinner of their family of four.

And it’s been a struggle.

I asked Jennifer to come on the show to share her struggles with being a full-time working mom and how she had to make that pivot in life to start thinking like a breadwinner.

On the show we discuss:

• What it feels like being a working mom in today’s world

• How she manages work vs mom vs wife vs life

• The risks she had to take to make it all work

• Not being with her kids as much as she would like

• What she has learned along the way

• The takeaway of becoming the female breadwinner

Co-founder and CEO of Blooom, Chris Costello, on the show today to talk about your 401(k).

Chris spent his entire life in the financial advising world and now he’s blowing the whistle on the crap that he says has been going on for way too long.

He’s talking about the outrageous fees, the terms no one understands (or is supposed to understand), and the ridiculous amount of greed the folks from Wall Street posses when handling your retirement funds.

In 2013, he founded Blooom which he coins as the new way to 401(k).

Chris is extremely passionate about investing and saving for your future and he doesn’t disappoint. We may have had to “BLEEEP” him out a few times during the show, but I completely get it - he’s seen these maniacs ripping people off for way too long and it’s time for a change.

On the show we discuss:

  • The terminology “they” don’t want you to understand
  • We break down dollar-cost averaging
  • We discuss the one thing you MUST be doing that results in thousands (and thousands) of dollars more in YOUR retirement
  • Moving the needle financially for the middle-class, not the 1%
  • How Blooom connects to your 401(k), 403(b), 457, 401(a), or your TSP
  • Fees, fees, and more fees - how much are you really paying?
  • The Blooom model - $10/month flat fee. Period.

The link Chris mentions in the show is for the first month FREE is: www.blooom.com/moneypeach

Kim and Cressel Anderson have an incredible story.

Like many of us, they were just going through the motions and asking themselves if there was more to life than driving hours each way to their corporate America job, only to wake up and do it all over again every single day.

That’s when they decided to make a change and do something absolutely crazy….make it their mission to go completely debt free inside their 20s!

I asked both of them:

  • How do you pay off a mortgage inside your 20s?
  • What is life like when you don’t have ANY debt at all?
  • Now that they have both left their corporate America jobs, what are they doing now for income?
  • What is the one piece of advice they would give to someone thinking about paying down their mortgage as fast as possible?

I asked Liran Amrany, the CEO of the NYC-based company Debitize to come on the show to share how he as officially solved the problem of grabbing all the credit card rewards without worrying about carrying a credit card balance.

Debitize is now the company turning your credit card into a debit card for FREE. He will explain exactly how it all works, the security behind it, and the benefits of automating the process, but I wanted to much more than just the product he created.

During the interview, I asked Liran:

  • How he got started
  • What were some of the biggest challenges getting Debitize off the ground (there were many)
  • Why hasn’t anyone developed this before
  •
Why he finally left the banking industry
  • Why he believes everyone should have a credit card (I actually disagree with him)
  • How to optimize your credit score using Debitize

BONUS: What is he willing to give Money Peach listeners (hint: $10 for FREE)

Phillip Taylor, AKA PT Money, and I sit down at FINCON 2017 from Dallas, TX. Fincon is the conference PT actually started in 2011 as a way for people inside the world of financial blogging to come together and create a community that had never been created until then.

Fast forward just a few years later, and FINCON started to take on it’s own identity. Lifelong friendships have formed, small blogs have turned into multi-million dollar media empires, and the people who attend now label themselves FINCONNERS.

Which is why the conference continues to grow each year, with over 1,700 people flying into Dallas to be part of what FINCON 2017.

Inside the episode we break down:

  • How PT started his first conference and how he found people to attend
  • How he has been able to grow a tribe of “FinConners”
  • What were some of the biggest challenges getting started
  • How he has had to pivot the initial conference idea to what it is today
  • Why FINCON doesn’t feel like a conference, but rather a vacation

Saving for kids college can seem impossible when you’re living paycheck-to-paycheck, trying to pay off debt, thinking about planning for retirement, and wondering how you’re going to make it until next payday.

Abby Chao saw these pain points we all face and decided to do something about it. She is the co-founder of CollegeBacker.com, a very unique platform helping you save for your kids college without having to save every dollar on your own.

Inside the episode we break down:

  • The 529 Plan (the best way to save for kids college)

Deacon Hayes from WellKeptWallet.com on the show today and I could not be more excited!

Why?

Well, I often tell people Deacon is the “Dad” of Money Peach because it was a meeting with Deacon over a cup of coffee in the corner of Starbucks where the idea for Money Peach was born.

Fast forward over the past few years and Deacon and I are great friends AND now we are also in the same niche within our businesses. However, what makes our relationship so unique is we have never viewed each other as competition, but rather as allies who are consistently trying to help one another out.

Deacon started his blog (Well Kept Wallet) in 2010 and since then has grown his blog into a healthy 6-figure business, multiple streams of income, and now the release of his new book, “You Can Retire Early”.

Deacon is my favorite kind of entrepreneur - the kind who has consistently worked his butt off for years, has gone through a ton of ups and downs, and is now seen as an overnight success….seven years in the making.

Deacon shares how he has done it all and holds nothing back for you to learn and get you to take that next step in whatever it may be.

Whitney Hansen from the Money Nerds Podcast comes on the show to share her no B.S. debt-free story which led her into starting her own business in the personal finance world.

Right out of college, Whitney decided to do the unpopular thing - sacrifice a lot early on in life to live the life she had always dreamed of.

I ask Whitney to come on the show to talk about:

  • Her aha moment (cutting through the B.S. of money)
  • What she did to pay off $30,000 in just 10 months out of college
  • How she maintains her debt-free lifestyle today
  • What she now can do since she is debt-free
  • Who she is helping today in her business

The founder and CEO of Lenda comes on the show to share how his company is fixing the broken mortgage system.

If you have gone through the process of getting a loan or going through a re-fi, you know first-hand the process is absolutely ridiculous, takes way too long, and is about as confusing as possible.

The truth is: it’s designed this way. The less you understand, the more you will pay.

Jason comes on the show and explains how he started off inside the mortgage industry and quickly realized how great it was for the banks and lenders, and how horrible it was for us - the consumer.

Over the past five years, Jason has continued to improve and change the way homeowners are going through the most expensive financial decisions of their lives - the mortgage process.

On the show we talk about:

• How Jason started his entrepreneurship journey

• How Lenda speeds up the process of getting a loan

• Getting instant approval versus giving all of your information only to be told you weren’t approved

• What’s next for Lenda over the next year (this is cool)

Michelle Schroeder-Gardner is one in a million. In 2011 she had started her blog Making Sense of Cents as a hobby to share her ideas of how she was managing the money in her early 20s. It wasn’t until after six months of blogging for fun, she was told by a friend she could actually make a few bucks through her blog.

Six months later she made her first $100 and began to realize there was room for growth. Fast forward to 2017 and she is consistently earning over $100,000 every single month from her blog! Not only is she generating an incredible income from her laptop, she is also doing all of this while living in an RV full-time with her husband so they can travel all over the United States.

I wanted Michelle to come on the show to share how she is as normal as normal can be, yet she also has such an incredible accomplishment - financial freedom and the ability to live the life many only dream about.

During the interview, I ask...

  • What sets Michelle apart from the thousands of bloggers who are trying to do the same thing she is?
  • How many hours per week does she really work?
  • What does a normal day look like for Michelle?
  • How does she generate income from her blog?
  • How does one really live full-time in an RV?

“Inoperable brain cancer”.

These were the words spoken by the team of doctors who met with Andy and her family to share with her the devastating news of what was causing her extreme and sudden headaches.

Andy Ptacek; wife, daughter, friend, and mother of two small boys would now be facing the greatest challenge any of us could ever imagine - defeating brain cancer.

The Backstory:

Andy and her husband were featured on the Money Peach Blog in the very early days when the blog was first started. They had an amazing success story of paying off $75k of debt in only 7 months (see link for show notes below).

A year after paying down their debt, they would soon face an even greater challenge: an inoperable tumor found on the outside of Andy’s brain.

The good news: After multiple attempts to have Andy to share her NEW success story, she finally gave in and agreed to the interview. She knew this would be a tough conversation and asked her husband Bruce to sit in with us during our conversation (you will notice him pop in the background of the interview).

During our conversation, Andy shares her view on what really matters most in life when you stare into the eyes of what she perceived as her own mortality.

• What did Andy promise herself when she was diagnosed?
• How did she find the strength and motivation to stay positive through it all?
• What happened that caused her to almost give up?
• What did she do just 1 year after brain surgery? (This will absolutely shock you!)

Note: Many of you may be asking why I would interview Andy’s story of survival on the Money Peach Podcast. This is a fair enough question and you will understand why in the end.

Hint: Money touches every aspect of your life. Even the parts you never think about...like inoperable brain cancer.

Mark Asher was once co-host of the #1 sports radio talk show in Arizona. He made up half of the “Gambo and Ash Show”, the local drive-time afternoon radio program where local sports dominated the airwaves for the drivers of Arizona.

It’s unheard of for a radio show to last 5 years in today’s world and the Gambo and Ash Show went on for 12 years. But as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. Their radio show was #1, Mark was living out his dream, and life was great - until one afternoon when he came in and was fired in a blink of an eye.

I asked Mark to come on the show to share what it’s like to go from #1 and on top of the world, to then having your life completely flipped upside down in a blink of an eye.

However, just like every good story, there is a happy ending that Mark never imagined happening.

I received an email from Brian Winch of CleanLots and he told me, “I’ve been cleaning up litter in and around commercial properties for over 30 years and I’ve been earning a 6 figure income from it.”

Wow! That is an email I’ll read all day long!

I decided to head on over to his website and sure enough this guy started a side hustle back in 1981 and now generates an incredible income doing what he calls “walking around parking lots and picking up trash”.

Since one of the most common questions I receive is “how can I earn extra money to…..?” I decided to bring Brian on the show to share how anyone (literally a-n-y-o-n-e) can start their own litter pickup service and generate income right away.

I ask Brian…

• To share his story
• What is the first step if someone were to get started today?
• How much can one really earn when getting started?
• Why there is the need for people to pick up litter?
• How many hours per week and when can you put in the work?
• How can we find out more?

Dr. Eric and Dr. Tami Hefferon come on the show this week after two years of dry needling, cupping, stretching, and fixing me up on a monthly basis (due to my own lack of stretching before CrossFit).

They are the husband and wife co-founders of a rapidly growing physical therapy center, Impact Physical Therapy, with a “fan base” of clients who willingly bypass their health insurance to get treatment from Impact PT on a cash-only basis.

After each session, I learn something more than just how to stretch properly and avoid injury. They are absolutely brilliant in attempting new ways to reach as many new customers as possible and their strategies are something very few are willing to test.

BONUS:

The Hefferons are completely transparent about their student loan debt, their credit card story, and the challenges they are still overcoming in order to be a true success story. As much success as they have had, there have been a lot of low moments they have had to endure as well.

Janelle Diller is the co-founder and co-author of of Pack n Go Girls - the popular children's books series for 6 to 9 year-old-girls. Janelle has an amazing story of how she grew up traveling the world on an average income and how she took a passion for writing and combined it with her love of world culture.

During the interview, Janelle share how her co-founder Lisa have not only created a thriving business, but how they are expanding the world for young readers so they can better understand the diversity of cultures and the richness each one contributes to the world.

Steve Chou is one of the most brilliant guys I know.

I met Steve at a conference a few years ago and I have been impressed ever since. This guy is the epitome of hard work meeting opportunity and then combining it with extremely high-level thinking.

I asked Steve to come on the show to share his story of working a 9am-5pm job as an engineer while at the same time generating $100k profit in his ecommerce “side hustle” within his first year in business!

Fast forward to today, and Steve is now generating 7 figures inside both his ecommerce store AND his now very popular blog - “My Wife Quit Her Job”.

Bonus: Out of all the guests we have had on this show so far, Steve was the first to share why or why not you should either start an ecommerce store (selling physical products over the internet) or start a blog like he also did and the why behind each piece of advice. Listening to Steve’s answer was my favorite takeaway of the interview.

Behind the scenes: Steve and I have played basketball together before and he definitely has some skills on the court. However, just one week before this recording he tore his achilles tendon playing hoop and still agreed to do interview while completely laid up and even in some mild pain.

Jonathan Barkl is the Co-founder and CEO of AirGarage, Inc., a new app connecting homeowners and businesses to those looking for affordable parking.

Jonathan is also 20 years old…

I asked Jonathan to come on the show to share his incredible story of how he went from creating a $500 per hour side hustle in high school to then attending college AND starting a business which has already changed the trajectory of his life forever.

Jonathan explains how he went from a problem he personally had with parking on college campuses, to creating a solution, and then providing an incredible new opportunity for everyone involved.

The broke college student can now find affordable parking, the homeowner can now generate income via their own driveway, and AirGarage generates revenue by connecting the dots.

How does it exactly work, what does Jonathan do everyday that very few (including college students) do, and what does the future look like for AirGarage?

You are going to hear it all and be absolutely amazed and inspired by this 20-year-old’s drive for success.

Amanda Walker from awalkmyway.com is a successful nutritional coach who has had tremendous growth in her business and has even created a cult-like following in her first year as a macros coach.

I ask Amanda to tell her story of leaving her job as a schoolteacher to pursue her passion as a successful entrepreneur in the niche of nutritional coaching - specifically macros coaching.

What is macros coaching?

Amanda explains what “tracking your macros” actually means, why it is important for everyone to “macro”, and why this has become such a popular trend over the past few years. Whether you are a new mom trying to get back into shape or a power lifter trying to build more muscle, tracking your macros is a must.

Much like I said many times in regards to your money - what gets measured gets managed - the same holds true for your nutritional goals as well.

Speaker, author, and Ramsey personality, Chris Hogan comes on the show today to share his story and talk all about retirement.

Chris has an amazing story of how he went from winning a football national championship in college, to working in the banking industry, and then later joining Dave Ramsey’s team as one of Dave’s Ramsey personalities.

I also asked Chris to come on the show to talk about his passion - the do’s and don’ts of retiring wealthy.

Chris has made quite a name for himself by looking at retirement from a different perspective - “...retirement is no longer an age...it’s a number”.

Behind the scenes - interviewing Chris was a little surreal for me. Before today, the only interaction I had with Chris Hogan was after I waited in line for an hour to get an autograph and picture with him after attending one of his shows here in Phoenix a few years back.

A few months ago I came across this really incredible FinTech (Financial Technology) software called Trim.

Trim does many things like sending me a message letting me know how many subscriptions I have active, how much I am (over) paying, and even allows me to cancel anything and everything with one push of a button!

The way I think about Trim is this: it’s the virtual assistant in the background of my life, working 24/7 for free, and making me look like a financial rockstar when it comes to the everyday money.

Which is why I wanted to talk to the man behind Trim - Thomas Smyth. Thomas is my favorite kind of entrepreneur. He took an idea running around in his head, gave it a direction, and created an incredible product with a very strong WHY behind it - to automate our good financial habits so we can focus on the things in life we would much rather focus on...versus spending an hour on the phone with the cable company negotiating a bill (Trim does this).

To see all Trim can do for you, check out http://moneypeach.com/trim

In 2013, I was listening to the Dave Ramsey Show on the radio when he brought up an incredible book called Rich Habits by author Tom Corley.

After hearing about the book, and then listening to the interview with Mr. Corley, I immediately purchased the book and finished it that evening.

The Rich Habits were so powerful in my own life that I have continued to practice those same ten habits from the thousands of millionaires Tom interviewed for his research for his book all these years later.

What are the habits of America’s wealthiest people and what are the habits of the America’s poorest people? Some of what we talk about is obvious, however Tom shares some stories of other habits that none of us would ever even think about. My favorite…”the Hello Call”.

Tom Corley is not only an incredible guest to have on the show, but he shares habits you can start creating in your own life right now which will have a direct correlation on your income, net worth, financial security, and overall well-being.

This is a special day for me and this show - the 50th episode!

If you have been listening for a while, you may have noticed a common theme with many of the guests: I either met them at or through the “gym”.

I decided to tie all of those guests together by inviting the founders and owners of the CrossFit gym I attend - Brian and Lisa Vayda.

In 2012, they were taking a road trip and started dreaming about taking their passion and turning into a business. A few months later, that dream would become a reality. And within a year, the reality was this: they had created the second largest Crossfit gym in the entire state of Arizona!

During the interview, we break down why they were able to achieve such a high level of success early on and how they almost lost everything right at the peak of it all. We discuss the ups and downs in starting and keeping the gym alive and some the greatest challenges we all face as entrepreneurs.

One of the biggest takeaways from the episode is the very personal story about one of the toughest moments inside their journey as husband and wife entrepreneurs, and how they were able to push through when many of us would have called it quits.

Here is the list of interviews from this CrossFit gym:

Episode 42: Morning Routines, Extreme Focus, and Non-Stop Learning with George Laughton

Episode 38: Retired at 34?! - with John Gaston

Episode 36: Innovate or Die, with Jason Beck

Episode 34: PD S.W.A.T. Officer Goes Debt Free

Episode 29: How to Interview Your Next Financial Advisor

Episode 28; Payment Shock and “Oh Crap!” Mortgage Mistakes
